I'd say you're interpreting the situation accurately. Perhaps though, there's another key detail to pick up.

This spiked in the field for me...

my car started making a squeaking sound when going over bumps in the road

It's the 'squeaking sound' that pops out.

So, when you go over a 'bump in the road', which equates to a crunch moment on the path, is it the emotional body that squeaks?

So is an aspect of identity being owned on the emotional plane?

Can you feel it in your body when it happens?

Why do you overreact emotionally?

I'd say there's some place that 'bleeds' on that plane. Maybe an oversensitivity to crunch points?
