Hi Nikki - someone may well not understand what you're talking about (in this case with your spiritual venture), which, of course, is absolutely fine and to be expected. But then a genuinely loving and caring person would inquire about it - to gain understanding.

But where they then undermine it with negativity, and continue to do so, whereby its clear there's some subersive attempt to limit or derail, then this could be considered Gas Lighting.
